The wireless internet access available through BDS will be filtered at a level like any other district owned device.

How will mobile devices be used in the classroom?

Mobile devices will be used in the classroom fto facilitate higher order learning activities that would not otherwise have been possible, or would have been difficult to accomplish without the use of technology.  Examples include projects, collaboration with peers, response device for assessments, blogging, creating podcasts and more.  Additionally, students can monitor their learning progress by checking their student portal.

What if a student does not have a mobile device?

Yes!  There were surveys sent to all stakeholders.  We combed through all of the comments and concerns to help us shape our BYOD plan.

Will teachers receive any professional development?

Teachers that wish to participate in BYOD are being asked to complete an online module that includes ideas as well as how to emphasize the importance and use of digital citizenship.  There will also be follow up sessions and learning communities established for ongling PD.

A student can't get his/her mobile device to connect to the network. Can a student get help from a BDS tech?
